It's early spring here and Warmer temperatures have finally arrived!
One day last week I spread my stuff out on a blanket by Lake of the Isles and spent a quiet afternoon observing and sketching a last season oriole nest.
Nests are complex and difficult to get close to unless you happen to find one on the ground. I often sketch them from a distance, getting a general sense of the shape, habitat and the materials that were used to build it. Next winter, when the snow is deep and it’s too cold to venture outside, I will use these sketches as reference for new studio work.
